Transport me back to simpler times
When the tall grass blew in the breeze
When the wonders of nature remained untouched
Wild rivers, stark mountains, proud trees
Back to the time when the West was still wild
Before “progress” invaded the land
When water was clean, and food was delicious
When berries were foraged by hand

When buffalo roamed the prairies and steppes
When eagles and owls soared high
Where animals thrived in harmonic balance
And birdsongs rang through the sky

Simpler times and simpler lives — transport me back to those days
Life was hard, but full of beauty — let’s get back to those ways

When wildflowers covered the mountainside
Painted colors so rich and true
When settlers loved the hope that they brought
And their love of nature grew

Before there were chemicals, made in a lab
Before man poisoned the land
When food came from the soil, the rain and the sun
And chocolate was crafted by hand

Simpler times and simpler lives — transport me back to those days
Life was hard, but full of beauty — let’s get back to those ways

I am a child of these beautiful lands
In my heart, I’ll never leave
Let’s all go back to those simpler times
We can get there…. if we all believe
